Councillor Denise Johnston represents Moyola DEA on the Mid Ulster Council. Her political engagement is driven by her core values of reconciliation, integrity, and respect for all residents in our community.
A History graduate, she holds Post Graduate Diplomas in Education and in Peace and Conflict Studies. Denise is Head of History and Politics at St Louis Grammar School where she has worked since 2001. Denise is passionately involved in shared education and fostering reconciliation among communities. Alongside being a victims' advocate and a member of the Lessons From History team, she is committed to supporting victims' groups and championing their rights and pursuit of justice.
A resident of Ballymaguigan, Denise spent her childhood along the shores of Lough Neagh. Her deep passion lies in the Lough, its diverse ecosystem, and the local community that thrives alongside and depends on it. Denise has been an advocate for addressing the ecological challenges facing Lough Neagh and remains committed to safeguarding and conserving this vital resource.
Denise serves on the Policy and Research Committee at Mid Ulster Council. Additionally, she is part of the Lough Neagh Partnership and the Mid Ulster Policing and Community Safety Partnership.
