Cllr Malachy Quinn

Malachy is from Coalisland in Country Tyrone. He was first elected to council in 2014 and currently serves as the SDLP Group Leader on Mid-Ulster Council. Malachy is a history graduate from St Marys University College, Belfast where he also served as Students Union Vice-President as well as completing a Masters Degree in Politics at Queens University Belfast.

During his time on Council Malachy has served as Chair of the P&R committee, as Vice-chair of the Environment Committee, a member of the planning committee and as the council representative on the Partnership Panel. He is the party Spokesperson for Regional investment.

A party activist since 2007, Malachy is well known member of the local Theatre community where he is seen regularly treading the boards at both Craic and Bardic Theatre as well a number of other local drama groups. He is a member of SVdP as well as Derrytresk GAA where he currently serves as club secretary.
